“I wholeheartedly endorse Paul Swaddle’s campaign. He has had an excellent year and is fizzing with enthusiasm and commitment. The national voluntary party needs a younger, fresher approach and Paul can provide that. I wish him well in his campaign.”
Iain Dale, Conservative Blogger

‘Paul has done an excellent job as a Vice President over the last year, and we are particularly grateful in the East Midlands for his willingness to come and communicate with our members in person. We need his expertise and enthusiasm to continue to contribute at a crucial time for our Party.’
Linda Kirk, Regional Chairman East Midlands

“Paul has been an energetic, hard-working and enthusiastic Vice President of the National Convention.  As the Party of Government now, we need experienced people more than ever at the top table and Paul is the right person for the job.  I fully support his candidacy.”
David Jones, Lead Assessor - Candidates’ Team

“I fully support Paul’s candidacy for National Convention Vice President. He’s a great character, wholly committed to the Party and has given an enormous amount of support for Conservative Future, leading the way by including our CF Area Chairman on the Area Board and integrating CF activity into the local campaigning plans.”
Michael Rock, Ex-Chairman Conservative Future

”Paul knows both how to listen and communicate with members. He gets things done. Paul knows that we can only strengthen the Party through wider involvement and real action.”
Paul Scully, Conservative Group Leader – Sutton

“Paul would make an excellent Vice President on the Party Board. I have no hesitation in recommending him, and was delighted to hear that he had decided to run. He is a hard worker and cares about this Party, and in particular the voluntary side. Added to which he is approachable, and a great guy.”
Claire Palmer, Former CF Deputy Chairman

“Paul Swaddle is a tireless worked for the Conservative party and since his election to the Board of the party last year, has done superb work on, amongst other things, membership and the championing of online campaigning.  Apart from his Board work Paul works so hard in so many areas of the country helping candidates and Associations at a key time for the party and the country.   It is essential that Paul be re elected to allow him to continue this work.”

Paul’s political experience and expertise is a critical success factor to Conservative gains in the last few years in general & local elections in Reading’s Conservative associations. When I was a new member, Paul was hugely supportive in helping me to get involved in the association and gives up large amounts of his own time to help other members and keep in touch with voters on the doorstep.

Paul has always been happy to share the bigger strategic picture of his regional role, down to more practical advice around pioneering new e-campaigning techniques. Paul would be sorely missed as Regional chairman for the South-East but I wish him every success in being elected to the board.

  2. Mike Townend, Berkshire Area Chairman

Paul has made an outstanding contribution to the Conservative success across Reading in the last few years. He is enthusiastic, hard-working and he leads from the front. He has been a great friend and mentor to me personally, and I have absolutely no hesitation in supporting Paul’s candidacy.

  3. Gavin Maclure, Former Ipswich Association Chairman

Paul personifies the modern Conservative Party. He would be an excellent addition to the Party Board and a great ambassador for the Voluntary Party. Paul has campaigned for the Party over many years through various roles from humble activist to Regional Chairman: he knows what makes the Voluntary Party tick. I fully endorse Paul’s candidacy for Vice President of the National Convention.

  4. Ranil Jayawardena, Chairman, South East England Conservative Future

Paul would be a fantastic addition to the Party Board. It is so important that Conservative Future works closely with the rest of the Party and Paul recognises this. He has always been very supportive of Conservative Future and has actively engaged with members across the region. A campaigner at heart, always willing to step up to the mark, I have no hesitation in supporting Paul’s candidacy.

  5. Iain J Brown (Chairman, Wokingham Constituency)

I shall be supporting Paul. He knows what needs to be done to get the voice of the ordinary member heard. We need to be ready to hand the baton on to younger members of the party. I have every hope that Paul will convince our leaders that honesty will be the best policy, i.e., ‘telling it as it is’. The problems that will face an incoming Conservative Government will be colossal. Rose tinted spectacles will not be suffcient. We need realists like Paul who will tell our leaders what they probably wouldn’t want to hear! Paul will be the ideal person to keep them informed and be representative of the grass-root views.

  6. Matthew Carrington (Former Chairman, London Region)

I am delighted to support Paul for election as Vice President of the National Convention. He will be a strong and determined member of the Party Board, standing up for the voluntary party and fearless in fighting for change.

  7. John Maclean, Chairman - West Midlands Region

Paul is a dedicated Party work who speaks out for the Voluntary Party, I am sure his will be a strong voice on the Party Board.

  8. Cllr Emma Webster, Reading West Deputy Chairman Political

I fully support Paul’s candidacy for the Party Board. I have seen at first hand in Reading West and across the wider Berkshire area what Paul can and has achieved in our area. He and his family are passionate about the Conservative Party and have always been a great support to me in both my Councillor and Association role.

    Good luck Paul !

  9. Dan Hamilton, Runnymede Borough Councillor

Paul is probably the hardest working activist this party has. His good humour, decency and gritty determination to get the job done will be a major asset to the Party Board as we approach the general election. Good luck Paul!

  10. Sudesh Mattu - Campaign Manager Nottingham South

I am really impressed with Paul’s new modern hi-tech approach – well done Paul you are moving campaigning into another gear altogether and using all the tools at your disposal effectively. The party board needs you !

  11. Jim Fleming

Paul has worked so hard in his first year as Vice-President and his efforts have always been to keep the grass roots engaged and involved in the exciting General Election that is coming. He thoroughly deserves re-election to the Party Board.

Paul has done a superb job in galvanising the voluntary party and bringing us into the 21st century. More power to your elbow – I’ll certainly be supporting you again.

“Merlin” and “Membership” are not the easiest of portfolios, regarded by many perhaps as poisoned chalices. Yet Paul met these challenges head-on and the current state of play in these fields are testament to his determination and expertise in his quest to get the best for the membership. He is worthy of re-election as Vice-President for a third term, to represent us on the Party Board, and I support his candidacy.

I have worked with Paul Swaddle in business and politics over the last ten years and support his election in 2011 to Vice President of the National Convention.

He creates a clear and concise vision for what he wants to achieve.
He is an excellent communicator, clearly describing what he is doing and when.
He is open to new ideas, discussion and constructive criticism.
He is in touch with what is going on at a local and national level.
He is a good representative on the Board of the grass roots membership of the party.
He uses the latest technologies to present up to date marketing communications.

In 2011 the Conservative Party will be a better organisation if Paul Swaddle continues to push the Board with drive, commitment, new ideas and new thinking.

  15. Matthew Sephton

Paul has worked hard as Vice President of the National Convention and, as someone with experience, he is definitely the person to continue the job. I am very happy to support his candidacy.

  16. Catrin Edwards

Paul has been a fellow Board member for two years. He is highly motivated, stands up for the Voluntary Party and his specialist knowledge of IT has been of great support to constituencies.

    Chairman – Wales

  17. Emma Warman

Paul was the chairman and campaign director who helped win Reading East in the 2005 election – one of the most marginal seats won in that election. In 2010 it was his drive and experience which was the key to winning the Reading West seat from Labour with one of the largest swings in the country.

I’ve never met a person who has worked harder for the Conservative Party than Paul does and I have no idea how he manages it. He has brought an innovative, fresh approach to the Board, he is a strong voice for the grass roots and he is honest enough to tell it like it is.

Most importantly: he just gets things done. Please vote to re-elect Paul Swaddle to the Board.

    Cllr Emma Warman
    Chairman, Reading West Conservatives
