The Electorate

The National Convention consists of the following:

Chairmen of each Constituency Association (or a Deputy)

The elected representatives on the Board of the Party / Scottish Executive / Board of the Welsh Conservative Party

Members of the Area Management Executives

Regional and Deputy Regional Chairmen

CF Representatives (42)

Conservative Womens’ Organisation (42)

Plus the 3 past Presidents of the Convention, the 2 past Chairmen of the Convention, and for one year the past Area and Regional Chairmen.

Each member of the National Convention has one vote notwithstanding that the member’s right to attend the National Convention derives from holding more than one office or position

Timetable

Friday 6^th January 2012: Dispatch of Preliminary Notice and Nomination Papers

Thursday 2^nd February 2012: Last date for notification of changes to the electoral register of members of the National Convention. (Anyone who is recorded as a member on this date will be sent details of nominations and ballot paper(s) if required. These are not transferable even if a member changes by virtue of their office after this date.)

Monday 1^3th February 2012: Nominations Close (First Post)

Wednesday 15^th February 2012: Dispatch of Final Notice plus Ballot Papers (If an election is required.)

Noon – Friday 2^nd March 2012: Last time and date for receipt of Postal Ballot Papers at CCHQ

Saturday 3^th March 2012: Hustings, Count and Declaration

Nominations

Any nomination must be submitted on an Official Nomination paper, signed by no fewer than 12 members of the National Convention, of whom 8 must be Chairmen of Constituency Associations, together with a signed letter from the nominee accepting nomination.
