Election Campaign 2012 – President of National Convention
Having had the honor of serving 3 years as a Vice-President of the National Convention I am no longer eligible to stand again. I am therefore seeking election to the role of President of the National Convention, which is for a one year term and importantly involves the Chairing of the Conservative Party Conference. I hope that you will be able to support me.
I joined the Conservative Party shortly after the 1997 GE, I felt then that the Party had to change, and I have been part of the changes since.
Over the past three years I have had the privilege to represent the Voluntary Party on the Board of the Conservative Party. I have not taken on the easy jobs, with MERLIN and Councillor Agreement and most recently the Boundary Review, but I have tried to tackle these difficult areas – ensuring that everyone at CCHQ from the Chairman down understand the needs of of local Associations.
MERLIN is now significantly better than when I took office, and I personally used it to great effect in 2010 in the campaign in Reading West gaining a swing of over 12% through targeting limited resources.
I have now conducted regular Mystery Shopping Exercises – with a mix of both shocking and excellent results. More recently I have managed the formation of the now national Councillor Agreement – ensuring that both Candidates and Associations know their responsibilities.
In my final year as Vice-President I have started to tackle the Boundary Review and how Associations will select their new Parliamentarians post the review – something that I hope I will be able to conclude in 2012/13.
I have also publishing a Guide to Social Media to help Conservative Campaigners and Associations make the most of onlinate campaigning – an area many of you know I am passionate about.
I have enjoyed meeting many Conservatives through out the UK during my three years in office and I hope you will elected me to serve as President of the National Convention and to represent you on the Party Board.

Vote for Paul Swaddle because he is an innovative, hard working and dedicated conservative. The fact is we need people like Paul, who can help rebuild the dwindling membership currently 177,000 out of a population of 70 million! This is the reality we are facing. We need talented and dynamic leaders like Paul with the right skills and experience. Please support him.
